YOUR LETTERS

Thankyou so much for all your messages – it’s really lovely to read them. This a small collection from the inbox or postbag. I ALWAYS answer your emails or letters - although it may take me a couple of weeks sometimes when I’m really busy.
If you don’t hear back from me after two weeks, please prod me again by email, just in case something has slipped through the net. If you don’t hear after that it is ONLY because there has been a technical thingy and I have not got your message - or your end won’t accept my reply. Try sending from a different email if you can.
I DO edit the messages on these pages for length and the odd typo or spelling (look, I just can’t HELP it!) but otherwise they are the same. If you can, please say whereabouts you are in the UK or the world as an email address won't tell me.

Dear Ali

I was wondering, for your new book of the Shapeshifter you’re going to do, what kind of covers are you going to do for the books. Will they be the same as the way Dax's book was done or are they going to be personalised to, for example, Spook’s character? Or are you going to do something completely different? :D

I love the way you wrote the Shapeshifter by the way :)

I don't know yet what the new covers will look like, but I can tell you that Oxford University Press is planning to re-issue the Shapeshifter series in brand new covers in 2011, on the run up to the new COLA adventures coming out in 2012.

So the new look Shapeshifter series will be in the same style as the brand new COLA adventures. I have no idea how it'll all look and it's really exciting. We might actually have the characters on the front cover and that will be very interesting, to see these people that I know so well in my head (and many of you do too) actually depicted in full colour.

But we just have to wait and see...

Dear Ali

Have you ever considered writing a book for a slightly older audience?

Melissa

I write for all ages. Wishful Thinking, out in June 2010, has teenage characters in it – but then so does Shapeshifter by book three of the series. I’ve plans for adult fiction too in due course, but I hope my books – even Monster Makers and S.W.I.T.C.H. (out in Feb 2011) which kick off at 7+ - can be enjoyed by all ages. In fact… to prove my point, read on...

Dear Ali Sparkes,

I am an adult dowser/remote viewer. I was browsing Amazon.com for metaphysical fiction regarding either of my hobbies that I had not already read. I ran across Finding the Fox and decided to give it a try. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and then proceeded to order the rest of the series. I realize that you wrote it with a younger group in mind, but maybe I am just young at heart (50's).

The series was wonderfully creative and I did not want it to end --- and --- please, please, please write another book about the Colas.

I am spreading the word about your books here in America (Illinois) and I look forward to enjoying more of your works.

Sincerely, Pam

And on the subject of age… read on...
