Now, if you haven’t read this one yet, you might want to come back to this later. I don’t want to spoil anything for you. I won’t give away anything important, but I don’t want you coming up to me at a signing session somewhere and flicking the back of my head with a half chewed CurlyWurly and saying ‘I didn’t want to know that!’
The action really does take a step up in Running The Risk, book two in the Shapeshifter Series, and the Colas’ world is soon a much, much more dangerous place than anyone had expected… except perhaps Dax.
Poor Dax has a rough time of it in book two (mind you, nothing compared to book four!) when he has to deal with jealousy in a big, big way.
Of all the feelings I’ve had I reckon jealousy is one of the worst. That horrible, horrible, edgy, uneasy, slightly sick feeling that someone who you thought was your best friend is possibly not. That maybe there are other people they’d rather be with. That the things you have said to them in private might be something they’re secretly laughing at with someone else.
Nobody ever wants to feel that way. And all the COLA power in the world can’t protect you from it…
CLUES
If you’ve read Running The Risk through to the end you’ll know that something fairly major happens to Dax before the story is finished. Did you spot all the clues? If you get round to reading it again, I bet you will. There are clues to Cola answers sprinkled all over the place through the series (some of them where you’d least expect them).
